While this genre has not been a great part of my output I value the occasional opportunity to celebrate my own times with pictures of objects that are resonant of personal or family life. ‘Spot’ was the name my daughter gave to a pottery moneybox she made when she was still at primary school. ‘Marimekko Still-life’ came from my many visits to Finland when I was an advisor to the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki.

Marimekko still-life

Still -life, Ostia antica

A few flower pots arranged by the custodian of Ostia Antica make up this still-life. The remains of a Roman fresco are from another part of the site.
