Gallery Still-life

While this genre has not been a great part of my output I value the occasional opportunity to celebrate my own times with pictures of objects that are resonant of personal or family life. ‘Spot’ was the name my daughter gave to a pottery moneybox she made when she was still at primary school. ‘Marimekko Still-life’ came from my many visits to Finland when I was an advisor to the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki.

Black Swan

1996. Oil on canvas. 40 x 48 in (120 x 120 cm).
Black Swan’ is the name of the deep purple tulip.

Marimekko still-life

2006. Oil on canvas. 24 x 20 in (60 x 50 cm).
A memory of my many trips to Helsinki as an advisor to the University of Industrial Arts.

Still -life, Ostia antica

1997. Oil on canvas. 24 x 36 in (60 x 90 cm).
A few flower pots arranged by the custodian of Ostia Antica make up this still-life. The remains of a Roman fresco are from another part of the site.
